But for those whose lives are in turmoil, the financial, physical, and emotional burdens can make ordinary trips extraordinarily difficult. That’s when they turn to Angel Flight West. Our network of 1,400+ volunteer pilots fly their own planes and pay for all costs out of their own pockets, in order to make these critical journeys.

was founded in 1985, our mission is to equip families and children experiencing homelessness to rebuild their lives. Unlike most homeless service organizations where families are separated, the Door of Hope program keeps the family unit together as they work towards their end goal of achieving permanent housing. Door of Hope has an 85% success rate with families who graduate from the program.
is dedicated to ending the suffering caused by the childbirth injury of obstetric fistula. They believe that no woman should have to suffer a life of shame and isolation for trying to bring a child into the world. Fistula is a childbirth injury largely eradicated in the developed world, but still devastating women in the poorest countries. The foundation supports fistula treatment in 31 countries at sites on two continents, Africa and Asia, and fund more obstetric fistula surgeries globally than any other organization.

Lava Mae’s focus involves driving six specially adapted buses to pre-designated areas, where the homeless can shower, use private bathrooms and address personal hygiene. What makes Lava Mae unique is that its vehicles and volunteers appear where the need exists, rather than the other way around. We are a social services organization, but our heart is in the hospitality business. Lava Mae calls the people we serve our guests, we treat them with respect and work hard to make sure they leave feeling better than when they arrived.

We distribute food directly to low-income people at community sites and make food available for other nonprofit organizations serving the ill, needy and children. rescues children from human trafficking around the world. A group of former CIA, navy seals and special agents work together to rescue children from being sold on the black market and then direct them into the recovery process through organizations that specialize in rehabilitation and education.
is a summer camp for children who face life-threatening and chronic illnesses. Children with more than 90 medical conditions would not otherwise have the opportunity to have a camping experience due to their illnesses. The year-round programming for campers and their families is provided free of charge. The Painted Turtle has served over 55,000 children and their families through its Summer and Family Weekend camps since it opened its gates in 2004. Of the more than one million children in California with chronic and life-threatening illnesses, more than 17,500 are unable to attend summer camp due to their medical conditions. The Painted Turtle provides these children and their families with an empowering, renewing experience completely free of charge.
has an established presence in the Al Hol camp, where we run nutrition and education programs and provide psychological and emotional support to children. Our Syria Regional Office and Northeast Syria area office have scaled up our work in the camp as more displaced families arrive. We have sheltered children and families in large tents, distributed kerosene heaters so families in unheated tents can keep warm and provided ready-to-eat food rations and hygiene supplies. Our child protection staff also visit the camp’s reception area every day to ensure vulnerable children are receiving care and attention. Our specific goals are to alleviate the immediate suffering of displaced children and families, help protect them from weather-related illnesses and help them with basic hygiene needs.

They provide therapy and empowerment programs and have a sustainability mindset wherein they recycle old material and manufacture low-cost aids for the disabled. Without a decent wheelchair, the poor often live painful, short lives that devastate many. $2-$3.5 trillion is lost annually worldwide due to the exclusion of people with disabilities from the workforce. Less than 50% of children with disabilities attend school worldwide. 80% of people with disabilities live in developing countries.
As a survivor of war in Sudan, Karak Denyok saw first-hand the extreme suffering of women and children in Eastern Africa. Karak’s determination to alleviate these desperate circumstances led her to create Diar for Rehabilitation and Development Association. Diar means woman in Dinka, Karak’s native language. DRDA started in 2003 as an indigenous non-profit, social and humanitarian organization dedicated to advocate for women’s and children’s rights and serve Sudanese women in displaced camps and in war-torn zones in the then-new Sudan liberated areas.
Empower Playgrounds uses the renewable source of children’s playground equipment at school to generate safe, transportable electricity that empowers children with more opportunity to study and enhance their education. Their mission is fulfilled through programs to provide light, promote wellness, and augment education. Many schools in rural Ghana have no access to electricity, books, clean water, menstrual products, or electronic devices. Empower playgrounds strive to give each student these resources so they can not only stay in school, but gain a better education.
One in four people in Los Angeles County experience food insecurity. Los Angeles Regional Food Bank mobilizes resources to fight hunger in their community. They source and acquire nutritious food and other products and distribute them to people experiencing nutrition insecurity through our partner agency network and directly through programs. They seek to energize the community to get involved and support hunger relief. In addition, they conduct hunger and nutrition education and awareness campaigns and advocate for public policies that benefit the people we serve.
Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County envisions an Orange County with food and nutritional security for all. In collaboration with partners, they provide dignified, equitable and consistent access to nutritious food, creating a foundation for community health. They provide food for all who need it with a concentrated focus on the most vulnerable populations—children, working families, college students and seniors. They purchase nutritious food and shelf-stable items—and grow a portion of their own produce—for distribution through Partner Network, which provides food at more than 300 locations throughout Orange County. This vital network includes houses of worship, school and college pantries, afterschool programs, Permanent School Pantries, senior centers, transitional housing facilities, soup kitchens and shelters for the unhoused.

World Central Kitchen (WCK) is a nonprofit organization that is first to the frontlines providing fresh meals in response to crises. Applying a model of quick action, leveraging local resources, and adapting in real time, WCK has served more than 350 million nourishing meals around the world.
When disaster strikes, WCK’s Relief Team mobilizes with the urgency of now to start cooking and serving meals to people in need. By partnering with organizations on the ground and activating a network of local restaurants, food trucks, or emergency kitchens, WCK serves comforting meals to survivors of disasters quickly and effectively. To support regional economies, WCK prioritizes purchasing local ingredients to cook with or distribute directly to families in need.
The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. In addition to their service in the United States, St. Judes has been on the leading edge of helping children evacuate and gain access to medical care in areas expereincing war or regional violence, such as Ukraine, Caracas, Venezuela and Mexico.
100 Humanitarians International helps families out of extreme poverty by teaching them to sustainably grow their own food, access clean water, facilitate education by assisting with school fees and address local health challenges by providing hygiene kits. All projects focus on helping families achieve self-reliance in order to create a generational impact.
